Know your camel: Turkish men hospitalized after drinking camel’s milk, urine

Two Turkish men were hospitalized on arrival to Turkey after drinking camel’s milk and urine while on an umrah visit, Hurriyet Daily News reported.

The men believed the camel’s milk and urine to be good for health, claiming it was written in a hadith. An imam, according to the Turkish men, also drank the milk and urine with them.

The visitors were hospitalized due to high fever and unusual levels of liver enzymes. Further tests revealed that the two men had been infected with the “alkhurma” virus, reportedly catching the virus from the milk.

The alkhurma virus is very dangerous and highly contagious and has a fatality rate of 25 to 35 percent, daily Hürriyet reported.

İhsan Özkes, a retired religious cleric and current member of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), denied the existence of any hadith that would encourage people to drink camel’s milk and urine.

“Those who did drink it must have been ignorant,” he said.

A former student sent me this, which nicely summarizes why you should wash your hands after peeing. Sure, some cultures drink urine, it’s essentially sterile unless you have kidney disease, but it’s the junk all around down there that’s being exchanged.

Keep the junk in the trunk, wash your hands.

Iowa Pizza Hut driver pees on woman’s door for not tipping

A Pizza Hut delivery driver in Des Moines, Iowa, has been fired thanks to his decision to urinate on a customer’s door after she stiffed him a tip.

Eater reports that KCCI has the full report in which Chloe Teply ordered a pizza despite knowing she didn’t have the cash for a tip, then a few hours later noticed some yellow liquid on her door. Upon viewing the apartment building’s security tape, Pizza Hut fired the guy, who later called Teply to apologize and then cleaned her door.

I never understood the whole golden shower thing. I don’t want to drink urine, don’t want someone to pee on me, don’t want it in my food.

But, who can explain people.

According to the The Daily Dot, Cameron Jankowski allegedly posted a photo of himself taking a leak on a Taco Bell order.

Hacktivist collective Anonymous tweeted a link to a YouTube video that reportedly lists Janowski’s personal details. He was identified as an employee at a Taco Bell restaurant in Fort Wayne, Ind. The video also includes screenshots of tweets that Jankowski posted and retweeted.

Though his account appears to have been deleted, Topsy archived Jankowski’s tweeted photo, which appears to have been posted early Thursday. He directed the tweet to Hunter Moore, the man behind shuttered revenge porn site Is Anyone Up?

Jankowski claimed that the order he urinated on was one that was already messed up. It was thrown away and not served to customers. But some Twitter users suggested his action was a felony.

Janowski apparently claimed he didn’t care that other users were directing his tweet to Taco Bell, claiming he had a new job lined up anyway.

In response, Taco Bell provided the following statement to the Daily Dot:

“Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and team members. We have strict food handling procedures and zero tolerance for any violations. As soon as we learned of the situation, we immediately investigated and found the photo was an ill-conceived prank and the food was never served to customers. We find this prank absolutely unacceptable, and we plan to terminate anyone involved and work with authorities to pursue legal action.”

London judges’ food spiked with urine

Police are investigating allegations of food contamination at a crown court in east London after judges’ lunches at Snaresbrook Crown Court were allegedly spiked with urine.

The Sun newspaper said it was feared someone with a grudge against the justice system had launched a revenge campaign.

Traces of urine were believed to have been found in soups, salads and sandwiches.

A private dining room known as the advocates’ lounge has been shut down until further notice, the newspaper said.

Staff working there are believed to have been suspended while the probe goes on, it said, adding that all are thought to have been supplied to the court by Eurest Services, a division of catering giant Compass.

A spokeswoman for Eurest Services said it was "aware of a suspected case of food contamination."

A 59-year-old paani puri vendor in Naupada (near Thane, that’s in India) was detained on Thursday for peeing into a small utensil that he otherwise used to serve his customers.

The Mumbai Mirror reports that Rajdev Lakhan Chauhan, who has been serving chaat in Bhaskar Colony in Naupada for four years, was picked up by cops after a resident captured the rather disgusting act on camera from a nearby balcony.

Whistle-blower Ankita Rane, a 19-year-old student, was shocked when she first spotted Chauhan urinating into his lota. “His stall is right below our building. Though there were rumours of him being quite gross, his stall was always flooded with customers,” she said. “Since I had nothing to do after my exams, I started keeping an eye on him.

“Every day, he’d pee into the utensil and then use the same to pour tangy water into the ragda or stir the paani puri mix. Some customers even used that lota to drink water once they had finished eating.”

When she told her family members and neighbours, however, they refused to believe her. When residents in the area saw the video she had recorded, they first beat up Chauhan before taking him to the police station.

“Residents of Bhaskar Colony came up with a video clip that showed Chauhan urinating in one of his utensils. We arrested him on Monday night and he confessed. His excuse was that he had nowhere else to pee as there was no urinal around,” Police Inspector Hemant Sawant said, adding that Chauhan said he felt uncomfortable peeing on the streets as Bhaskar Colony was a clean, residential area.

Cow urine irritates eyes of 50; dairy pavilion closed at Australian fair

The dairy cow pavillion at the Royal Adelaide Show has been closed down after almost 50 people suffered serious eye irritations, with organizers blaming stagnant urine.

St John Ambulance volunteers were called to the Dairy Cattle pavillion about 4pm yesterday after some people reported irritation to their eyes, treating 30 people at the scene, AdelaideNow said.

Last night another 20 people went to the emergency department of the Royal Adelaide Hospital where their eyes were washed.

A spokesman for the Royal Adelaide Hospital said 17 people went to the emergency department overnight with eye irritations and had their eyes flushed.

Show chief executive John Rothwell said it was the first time in the event’s history that such a problem had occurred and its exact cause was unknown.
Health authorities have been to the show grounds to investigate and hope to have some answers by this afternoon.

Even in Texas, it’s not OK for cheerleaders to pee into drinks

Officials with a Texas school district said a group of high school cheerleaders was disciplined for giving urine-tainted drinks to teammates.

Administrators said at least two girls at Fort Worth’s Saginaw High School received in-school suspensions and an unspecified number of their fellow cheerleaders received lesser punishments for serving sodas contaminated with a cheerleader’s urine to their teammates during a basketball game late last year, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Thursday.

Golfers file lawsuit against club because of watercooler full of feces and urine

I really like Amy.

She’s annoying and neurotic, but no worse than me, and who isn’t?

So I won’t be going on the annual golf trip with the boys from Guelph. I went last year because it was part of a North Carolina road trip, but took Amy and Sorenne and spent the couple of days doing my best Herb Tarlek impersonation from the television show, WKRP in Cincinnati, with, “I thought we were supposed to bring our wives?”

When I do golf, I bring my own water, from the municipal tap.

Three golfers in Clearwater, Florida, have filed a lawsuit against Countryside Country Club, alleging they got sick from club watercoolers that contained "adulterated water." A press release from the Law Office of Tragos & Sartes indicates that the cooler on the golf course’s eighth hole was vandalized and contained feces and urine.

The lawsuit claims that on July 18, 2009, the men were golfing and drank from the water cooler. It was hot, so they said they were "guzzling" the water. Upon noticing an "unnatural taste," one of the plaintiffs opened the container and discovered urine and feces.

His son immediately "became ill and vomited on the tee box at hole number 8," while he and his father later developed fevers and other symptoms.

Rats set to reproduce with global warming; restaurant inspections – and YouTube videos — will get uglier

The aptly named Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use (CRRU) reports that a survey of British farmers and countryside managers found 61% of respondents noticed a rising rat population already and 74% believed that climate change would exacerbate the problem.

The survey is corroborated by the National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA), which found a 15% year-on-year increase in treatments in local authorities for rat infestations.

CRRU chairman, Dr Alan Buckle, said the UK rural rat population consumes an estimated 200t of food a day that would otherwise be destined for humans. One in every two farm fires, he adds, is believed to be started by rat damage causing electricity cables to short.

Even in Kansas, rats have twice sought shelter in our parked car’s engine and gnawed through the ignition wires.

And if those rats are frolicking and fornicating in the country, their numbers will only get worse in the city.

According to the CRRU:

• One rat produces about 40 faecal pellets and 15ml of urine each day, or 14,600 and five litres respectively per year.

• Salmonella, leptospira, toxoplasma, listeria, campylobacter and cryptosporidium are some of the highly pathogenic organisms carried by rats.
